Suday, January 27, 2013

Sundays are the best.  Today, Craig directed the Dartmouth Ward choir in the Sacrament Meeting. It was a wonderful experience.
The mission has received a new senior couple. The Thackers from Orderville, Utah. They will work in the mission office. They are wonderful.
Going to church is such a wonderful blessing in my life. I know that God lives, I know that Jesus Christ is my Savior and Redeemer. I know that there is a prophet of God on the earth today. I'm grateful for those with similar knowledge that bless my life by their examples. I love my brother and sister, my children and my grandchildren-  I truly want to spend eternity with you and with those who have come before and will come after.  I'm so grateful for wonderful friends that enrich and uplift my life! I'm so grateful for the love in my heart that has grown for the wonderful people of Atlantic Canada. This mission has truly proven to be an answer to my prayers and I'm so grateful for all I'm learning and doing while I'm here.
The car actually started yesterday for a while and Craig was able to get to the store! See prayers are answered.
May God be with you till we meet again.

Saturday, Jan 26th
We have had a really great temple week so far. It's been nice to see a lot of youth at the temple. So grateful for those who travel far to come be in the temple. The dizziness from earlier this week has not returned, am so very grateful. It's been a very cold week here, since our car won't run if the temp is below freezing that means that we have been pretty much housebound- except for the temple. We have been blessed with wonderful neighbors, the Dela Cruz- thank goodness for their rides, others to have helped. We are getting closer to our temple shut-down-. It's so very wonderful to see all those that turn out of help clean the temple! Life is good, even if it's freezing! Spring will come . . . . . . some day!

Woke up at 5:30 this morning- ugh! It's cold, really cold, I"m tired, but the sun is out and I can't get back to sleep. Been doing some genealogy this morning. Love my ancestors, but they do get in my head sometimes and don't leave me alone to sleep!!!

Been making  a lot of soups with this cold weather- using ingredients we have on hand - no recipe.  Today, I cut up some polska kielbasa, browned it with some chopped onions, put in soup pan, then cut up some potatoes into chunks, and browned it a little and added to the soup pan, then browned some mushrooms. Added some spicy tomato soup, a dear friend shared with us. Added a can of zesty tomatoes and a couple cans of water, a handful of dried carrots, a can of black beans, that was drained and rinsed. Added some chopped garlic, some red pepper flakes and some black pepper. Let it all cook- a while. It warmed us up from the inside out! Tasted real good on a very cold day!  Not for those with a weak stomach, but it was very good.

Just finished watching the Inauguration ceremony. My prayer is for a united people be it in Canada or America.. A people who always remember and honor the God that named this continent as a land of Promise. May our promise each day be to live as He would have us live, to love others as He loves us, to always remember His only Begotten Son, who died so that we could live again.

Missed going to church yesterday. Woke up and was very dizzy, had to use both sides of the hall from bedroom to living room to stay upright. Thank goodness for the Priesthood of God which has been restored in these last days and for a husband and so many other worthy men who bear and honor this Priesthood. Because of faith, and prayer and a blessing from my hubby I was better by afternoon, just tired, so I rested as much as I could.

Had wonderful visiting teachers visit today. Am so very grateful for them.

No one is perfect, not me, not you, not President Obama, not anyone. So I pray for the leaders of nations and governments around the world- that they will be led in all they do by a loving Heavenly Father. That they will serve those who they lead with honor, virtue and righteousness.

Thursday, January 17th, 2013
It has been a great Thursday. Got up this morning to the 5" on snow that fell yesterday, spent some time shoveling it- it was nice and light snow this time, not wet and heavy, almost like Utah snow. Hubby woke up and came out and finished the job- I have such a great guy!!!  Wrote a letter to Elder Josh Simonson yesterday and e-mailed it to him. It was a wonderful evening at the temple. We have changed to just one session on Thursday, but are actually getting more patrons out and getting more accomplished than when we had 2 sessions. It was "warm" enough  that the car decided to be nice and run today!! Another one of those tender mercies from Heavenly Father! President and Sister Robinson are the best and it such a terrific opportunity to serve with them and to serve in the House of the Lord. We have learned so very much from being in the temple and from being there with the wonderful patrons and workers.
Gonna try and talk to my granddaughter tonight without the affects of sleeping pill. Daeja we love you so very much, we miss you and can't wait to give you a hug in person.
Hope it has been a great day for all of you too.

Snowy night outside of our apartment. January 16, 2013. I get to our shovel our steps in the morning!

Wednesday, January 16th, 2013

Today has been interesting. We went back to the temple today, that was wonderful. Such a peaceful, wonderful place to be. It started snowing while we were there. It is still snowing, looks like 3 + inches outside, and its still coming down.  Our car still doesn't like the cold! Grateful for the Dela Cruz for helping us out! Even more snow is called for in tomorrow's weather forecast, and some really cold temp's too. We cooked some spaghetti for 2 of the Elders here. Craig took it over to them as one is sick. Such a blessing to be able to serve others! My wonderful hubby cleaned up the kitchen for me today, after 2 days of cooking for the elders- sure glad that feeding a family of 9 taught me how to feed a growing army of Elders! Love you guys so much and may God bless you always wherever you are serving in God's vineyard.

Monday- January 15th, 2013

It has been a good day. We had district meeting with the Elders today. We feed them homemade chicken soup that had lots of good things in it for them. They are such wonderful young men, it's so wonderful to associate with them. Did some laundry and went over to some friends for Take-out Chinese food for dinner. Get feeling better Vince and Gloria Levy Walsh. We have storms coming in for the next 2 days, very cold weather, and we will see how much snow we get.  We start our new temple week tomorrow and look forward to that. We are so blessed to be here and for the opportunities that we are given to serve others. Love you family, we miss you and you are in our thoughts and prayers. Love our sweet friends here in Cole Harbour and all of Atlantic Canada-- you have touched our souls and we pray for you also.

Sunday, January 13th, 2013

It has been a terrific Sabbath. The spirit at church was wonderful. To be able to partake of the sacrament and renew covenants a humbling privilege, to worship with wonderful Saints a great blessing. We were blessed with a working car which was nice also. Our temple president has been dealing with health challenges and is getting better- prayers are answered. This I know and testify. Got to talk to my sister- I love her so very much- Her caring and prayers for us while we are gone lifts me all the time. I have so very many blessings and pray for all out there who are fighting colds and flu and other health challenges at this time. God be with you in all you do is my prayer, dear friends and family.

Wednesday, January 9th
Got to talk to some of my grandchildren- that always makes my day!
I have a grandson, Jacob Bishop that is now taller than his grandfather it seems. Jenna and Emma was great to visit with you also. Only thing better than grandkids is children- Amy Edwards Bishop was great to just visit with you. Craig is feeling off and has gone to bed, hope he is not getting the "flu bug" that has been going around. I have my left hip hurting again, pray that is short-lived. Other highlight of the day was a wonderful day at the temple. We had a great turnout of patrons and we were kept busy!
Greatful to Vince Vincent-"neatly, neatly, neatly" for her help in the office all the time. Life is good, no fire alarm or flooding in the apartment tonight. But due to the flooding last night, we got to "observe and than serve" and got to meet some of the other residents in the apartment building- was great to see us work together. Have you ever shoveled water with a snow shovel- it works!!! Grateful that only minor flooding in some apartments and that we got it fairly fast. We were on the opposite end of the building and were safe and dry. Hope that all of our friends and family near and far away had a great day!
